Today, the Khronos Group announced the launch of OpenGL 4.0, the cross-platform 3D & graphics API. OpenGL was most recently at version 3.2. Updated specifications are available at the opengl.org site. Game and 3D developers are presumably salivating.

iPhone SDK 3.2 showing first hints of multitasking for third-party apps?

Naturally, we need to first disclaim this noise by saying that rumors of third-party multitasking capability in the iPhone are as old as the iPhone SDK itself. That said, it’s hard to ignore a new reference to a “multitasking dialog box” buried deep within the iPhone SDK 3.2 beta that — while not new to beta 4 specifically — we’re told didn’t exist in 3.1.3. Now, the wildest possible speculation would have us believing that Read More...

During CES 2010, HP gave the public a slight tease of its upcoming slate device. But wait, there’s more. According to a post on HP’s Voodoo blog, the device will give you a “full Web browsing experience,” not a “watered-down Internet” with “sacrifices.” Read More...

Report: RIAA pressured Apple into creating iTunes LP

Filed under: iTS, Retail, iTunes, Apple

This feature over at GigaOM has quite a few interesting insights about the iTunes LP program — while Apple sells it wholeheartedly as “the visual experience of the record album,” it appears the story behind the story is not quite so clean. According to an anonymous source in the industry (note, not Apple themselves), the service didn’t come from Cupertino. Instead, it was designed by record companies, and agreed Read More...
