Ronkonkoma, N.Y., July 10, 2009 — VAI (Vormittag Associates, Inc.), a leader in enterprise solutions for the distribution, manufacturing, retail and service industries, and an IBM Premier Business Partner, today announced that the company’s President & CEO, Bob Vormittag, was selected by the Long Island Software & Technology Network (LISTnet) as a recipient of the first “Julian” Awards MTA (Master of Tech Advocates). Vormittag will be honored alongside Tyler Roye, Senior Executive Officer, MindSHIFT, and Len Sturm, Partner, KPMG, LLP.
The “Julian” Awards MTA is named after Dr. Julian Sandler, former Chair of the Board of Directors of Hillel International and Founder, President and CEO of SmartSource Computer and Audio Visual Rentals, a Long Island-based company. The award will be presented by LISTnet on November 5 at the Garden City Hotel, Garden City, NY, during Tech MELT 2009, Long Island’s premier technology conference.
“Dr. Julian Sandler was an exceptional individual, who continuously looked beyond his own company to help Long Island and the region as a whole,” said Peter Goldsmith, President, LISTnet. “With Dr. Sandler’s passing this year, LISTnet wanted to honor his lifelong dedication to the community. As such, we sought out other local leaders who have made exemplary contributions, as Dr. Sandler had, particularly in the technology arena. After giving much thought to the selection, we saw Bob Vormittag as a prime candidate for a “Julian” award-a well known and devoted advocate to the growth and enhancement of the Long Island community. This year’s high caliber honorees represent the excellence that the “Julian” award embodies, and will make this a coveted award for years to come.”
Tech MELT 2009 will feature a panel discussion with John Kominicki, President and Publisher, Long Island Business News (LIBN), together with the 2009 “Julian” Awards MTA winners. This year’s honorees will select the 2010 “Julian”…
